Scamp was put to sleep on June 29, 2010. We're not sure exactly how old he was; the vet thought he was about 8 or 9 when we adopted him from the Orcas Island Animal Shelter in August of 2006, making him about 12 or 13 now. Over the past year he'd been having increasing problems with breathing and with his hind legs; more recently developing cataracts and more serious heart problems. It was time.
The pictures are of him in the vet's office before being sedated. He was freshly groomed, and you can almost see the softness of his fur. He was a sweet, laid-back dog, wanting nothing more than to lay on your feet and be near you.
